september obsession: cole’s french dip sandwiches in downtown los angeles. not only is it the oldest pub in la, conveniently located blocks from skid row, but the sandwiches and sides are out of this world. the mac and cheese is a must order.

i consider myself a burger aficionado, and i thus i have to give it up to nick pampanella, for not leading me astray upon my arrival to the windy city for lollapalooza weekend. short of minetta tavern’s black label burger, i’m pretty sure kuma’s corner’s iron maden (all of the burgers are named after metal bands) is the best i’ve ever had. james, my roommate for the weekend, enjoyed the signature kuma burger, and we both enjoyed the absurdly metal ambiance.

wine and food weekend
true to her word, perry once again allowed me to be her +1 to many of this weekend’s wine and food festival events. she and father greenspan took me to stuff my face at the blue moon burger bash, daily candy’s midnight munchies, and godiva’s sweet (where for the second year in a row perry and i declared jean georges the best dessert of the evening).
after sampling about six different burgers, i think the best burger was a tie between lure and dumont burger, and the highlight of midnight munchies was definitely the bespoke chocolate table’s truffles. i know the photos aren’t too exciting, i was too busy eating.
…and thus ends 2009’s weekend of gluttony.
